A record of 16 countries represented in Guatemala

 

GUATEMALA CITY, April 18, 2008.- A record of 16 countries are represented in the  second stop of the 2008 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit which start today at Campo de Marte facilities. Seventeen tandems in the men’s division and sixteen in the women’s side have been registered.

 

The participating countries are: Aruba, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, United States, St Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago and St. Vincent & Grenadines.

 

“We are very proud with presence here of so many players from those countries,” said Nelson Ramirez, the Director of the Event. “The growth of this competition in just its second year is amazing and I can see better things happening in the future.”

 

The General Technical Meeting was held last night at Las Pergolas Ballroom in Hotel El Conquistador. It was attended by Luis Enrique Santis, President of the National Federation of Guatemala and Mrs. Marta Centeno de SAJCHÉ, General Secretary of NORCECA.

 

The matches for the preliminary round are as follows:

Men: ESA vs. ARU; TTO vs. GUA (1); CRC (1) vs. HON; NIC vs. CUB; JAM vs. CRC (2); VIN vs. DOM; SKN vs. MEX; GUA (2) vs. PUR and USA vs. ESA or ARU.

 

Women: CUB vs. ESA; USA vs. MEX (1); GUA (1) vs. NIC; TTO vs. CAN; PUR vs. GUA (3); MEX (2) vs. VIN; ESA (2) vs. SKN and CRC vs. GUA (2).
