More than 80 participants of Annual Clinics
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 17, 2008.- More than
80 teachers and coaches from the Dominican Republic took part of
the Fourth Clinic for Physical Education Teachers and Volleyball
Coaches conducted on Sunday.
The session lasted from 8:30 in the morning until 6:00 p.m. and
was coordinated by Professor Beato Miguel Cruz with John Kessel
(USA), Israel Garcia (Puerto Rico) and Justo Morales and Francisco
Cruz of Cuba as instructors.
Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of the NORCECA
Confederation, attended the opening and closing ceremonies in the
company of Ms. Marta Centeno de Sajche, General Secretary, and
Prof. Nelson Ramirez, Director of the FIVB Regional Development
Center in Dominican Republic.
Prof. Cruz informed the Clinic was divided in two workshops with
the first one covering offensive systems (reception, setting and
attack) and the second related to defensive systems (blocking and
defense).
“It was a complete success both in term of participation and also
for the experience acquired by the teachers and coaches,” said
Cruz, who is the coach of the Dominican Republic Women’s National
Team. “The participants came from all over the nation and this
will benefit the development of volleyball in the country starting
with people at a young age.”
The Clinic for Physical Education Teachers and Coaches is held the
day before of the annual meeting of the Technical and Coaches
Commission of NORCECA.
