Junior National Festival of Volleyball in Santo Domingo 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 26, 2007.- A National Festival of Junior Volleyball is scheduled to be held next July at the facilities of the FIVB Regional Development Center in the Dominican Republic.

Mr. Nelson Ramirez, director of the training institution, informed about this and other important activities to be implemented this year during his report before the Sports Organization Commission of the NORCECA Confederation.

Ramirez announced that the same type of event will be held in all the FIVB Regional Development Centers around the world. About 100 teams of both genders are expected in Santo Domingo to take part in the three-day festival.

He made a complete report about all the activities carried out in 2006 and informed that on May the Center will host a Course for Candidates to FIVB Referees and in June a Course for Coaches Level II will be dictated. For the month of November, Ramirez announced a Course for middle players (attack and blocking).

The Sports Organization Commission is presided by Prof. Alejandro Salinas de la Garza, of Mexico, and the rest of the members are Mr. Mushtaque Mohammed, of Trinidad & Tobago, Mr. Edgar Alvarado, of Costa Rica, Mr. Raul Diago, of Cuba, Mr. Mike Chandler, of United States, Ms. Carla Steiner, of Canada, Mr. Carlos Beltran, of Puerto Rico and Mr. Ramon Alexis Garcia, of Dominican Republic.
