All dates approved for NORCECA competitions
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 26, 2008.- The Women’s
and Men’s Pan American Cups, the two main annual events of NORCECA
Confederation, will be held in Mexico and Canada respectively.
The ladies’ event will be played in the cities of Tijuana and
Mexicali in Baja California, Mexico on May 28-June 8 and the men’s
competition will be in Winnipeg in the province of Manitoba on May
31-June 8.
The dates received the approval of the Sport Organization
Commission of NORCECA presided by Professor Alejandro Salinas
gathered together for two days here.
The Commission also approved the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit
on the period of March-May with seven stops for men and eight for
women.
The 2008 is the year of the Junior and Youth Continental
Tournaments that qualify teams to the next year’s World
Championships.
The U-18 Girl’s Tournament will be hosted in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico
on July 4-12 while the U-19 Boy’s event will be in Fort
Lauderdale, USA on August 1-9. The U-20 Women’s Junior is
scheduled on July 20-28 in Saltillo, Mexico and the U-21 Men’s
Junior on June 28-July 6 in El Salvador.
The commission also sanctioned the dates for the Central American
Championships both in Nicaragua. The men will play on September
14-21 and the Women on December 7-14. Meanwhile, the Caribbean
Championships in both genders will be in Barbados on July 13-21.
