NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit with eight stops
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 26,
2008.- The NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit will have eight stops
this year, a good sign of how fast is growing after the 2007
edition which had only three tournaments for both men and women.
The Sport Organization Commission, presided by
Prof. Alejandro Salinas of Mexico, held a two-day meeting in the
NORCECA Headquarters in Santo Domingo on February 24-25, and
approved the schedule.
The Beach Volleyball Circuit starts in Santo
Domingo on March 19-24 and continues in Guatemala (April 16-21)
and El Salvador (April 23-28). The tour then will make stops in
Manzanillo and Guadalajara, Mexico on April 30-May 5 and May 7-12
respectively.
The last two countries hosting the competition in
both genders will be Aruba (May 14-19) and Puerto Rico (May
21-26). The final event will be in Trinidad & Tobago on May
29-June 2 only for women.
The Circuit marks the beginning of the
qualification process to the Central American and Caribbean Games
to be held in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 2010.
Meanwhile, the second clinic of Beach Volleyball
for Physical Education Teachers and Coaches was dictated in Santo
Domingo under the supervision of Allison Wood of USA.
Professor Nelson Ramirez, Director of the FIVB
Development Center in Dominican Republic considered the clinic a
complete success and the participants praised the organization as
well as expressed their satisfaction for the learning experience.
