Three new members in the Press Commission


SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 8, 2010 – The NORCECA Press Commission has been expanded with the valuable addition of three new members. The commission held its annual meeting on Sunday.

 

Mexican Juan Jose Martinez, Guatemalan Rodolfo Andreu and Winston Duncan of Anguilla are the new members. Besides, Cuban Lissette Ricardo was voted as interim President.

 

During the meeting, it was discussed the coverage of the 2010 Beach Volleyball Circuit, the Volleyball competitions and the importance of the utilization of the modern means of communication available.

 

Roosevelt Comarazamy, the NORCECA Press Officer, presented his reports to the 2009 Congress held in Antigua Guatemala and also his annual report to FIVB Press Commission including data related to the production of press releases, electronic newsletters, publications and list of current NF Press Officers.

 

Cayacoa Moquete, coordinator of info technology, reported about the projected new design of the NORCECA website and received comments and suggestions from the members.

 

The President of NORCECA, Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, did a presentation of the format to be implemented for the Beach Volleyball continental qualification tournaments to the 2012 Olympic Games and also of the 19 tournaments held last year where 11 teams (six women’s and five men’s) qualified to the 2010 FIVB World Championships in Japan and Italy.

 

The other members in attendance were Humberto Pagan of Puerto Rico, Bill Kauffman of United States, Ernesto Beltre of Dominican Republic, and Philip Lirus of Martinique. Also Nelson Ramirez, Executive Director, and Jose Luis Jimenez, General Secretary.
