Clinic for Physical Education teachers held in Santo Domingo


SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 20, 2010 – More than 50 physical education teachers from public and private schools of the Dominican Republic took part in the one-day clinic of basic volleyball imparted by members of NORCECA Coaches commission.

The clinic was held at the volleyball complex of Santo Domingo and was organized by the FIVB Regional Development Center in Dominican Republic. The event had the support of the National Institute of Physical Education, the Ministry of Sport and NORCECA.

It is the fifth time the clinic is organized one day after the conclusion of the annual meeting of the Technical, Development and Coaches Commission presided by the legendary Cuban coach Eugenio George Laffita who supervised it.

The participant instructors included Canadian Mark Tennant, Americans John Kessel and Carl McGowan, Cubans Justo Morales and Francisco Cruz, Puerto Rican Israel Garcia, Nicaraguan Rene Quintana and Dominican Beato Miguel Cruz, who was the coordinator.

Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA and First Executive Vice President of FIVB and Professor Nelson Ramírez, Director of the FIVB Development Center, presented the certificates of participation to the teachers during a ceremony held in the meeting room of the center.
