Curacao to meet Barbados for ticket to Mexico


WILLEMSTAD, Curacao, January 16, 2010 – Curacao crushed Trinidad & Tobago 25-11, 25-6, 25-10 in the second day of action of the CAZOVA Youth Boys’ Championship at Errol Rooi SDK of Curacao.

 

The boys from Curacao were superior in blocking and serving outmatching their opponents 12-6 at the net and 6-1 from the service line. The match lasted only 57 minutes.

 

Curacao will meet Barbados in the decisive match on Sunday with the winners advancing to the NORCECA Continental Championship in Guadalajara, Mexico next April.

 

Anthony Quentin and Stephan Ellis each scored 8 points for the winners and Rachid Barry and Jurcham Meulens added 7 apiece. Brandon Legal and Akim Bushe had 5 apiece for the losers.

 

Exhibition game

 

In the other match of the second day, Barbados defeated Netherlands Antilles 25-11, 25-15, 25-13 in exactly one hour of play.

 

Kyle Browne and Ramon Innis recorded 13 and 11 points for Barbados and Raphael Anthony added nine. Fharay Vrutaal scored 10 points for Netherlands Antilles.

 

On Sunday Netherlands Antilles meets Trinidad & Tobago in an exhibition match before the gold medal contest.
