WILLEMSTAD, Curacao, January 18, 2010 – Hosts
Curacao defeated defending champions Barbados
3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17) winning the
gold medal of the CAZOVA Youth Boys’ Tournament.
The win earned Curacao the ticket to represent
CAZOVA at the NORCECA Continental Championship
next April in Guadalajara, Mexico, a qualifier
to the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in
Singapore later this year.
MVP Stephan Ellis topped the winners with 19
points and Jurcham Meulens added 9. Rachid
Barry, Ernaldo Mota and Quinten Anthony each
contributed 6 points. Kyle Browne was the best
for Barbados with 18 points.
In an exhibition match, Trinidad & Tobago
defeated Netherlands Antilles 11-25, 25-12,
25-20, 25-21. Brandon Legal led the winners with
a tournament-high 21 points and Shervon Samuel
added 9 tallies.
