Castro Verdugo elected to the Mexican Olympic Committee


Mexico City, January 28, 2010 – Saul Castro Verdugo, First Executive Vice President of NORCECA, has been unanimously voted as new permanent member of the Mexican Olympic Committee. He was elected during the General Assembly of the institution held at the Sport Olympic Mexican Centre and chaired by its President Felipe Muñoz.

 

“I am very proud and honored,” said Castro Verdugo after taking the oath as new member. “Being elected to the Mexican Olympic Committee was one of my dreams when I started my career in sports management.”

 

“This is a new responsibility and a bigger commitment to continue contributing with the development of Mexican sport,” he added. “This is something extraordinary because you represent a philosophy of the Olympic movement and is a question of pride.”

 

Castro Verdugo, who is the Director of the Sports and Physical Culture Institute of Baja California, has been an intense promoter of national and international events, including three FIVB World Championships in the Youth and Junior categories as well as FIVB World Championships qualification rounds. He has a bachelor’s degree in administration from University of Nuevo Leon with post graduate studies in Germany and Cuba.

 

“This has been something very positive because I want to contribute for a better image of Mexico, and the cities in our State”, he said. “I appreciate the support of my family and the confidence of the president of the Mexican Olympic Committee, Mr. Felipe Muñoz, for giving me this great distinction.”
