Puerto Rico, January 30, 2010 – Guaynabo took a
2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Final Series of
Puerto Rican Men’s Superior League following a
dramatic five-set victory over defending
champions Corozal in the second match of the
playoffs. The score was 25-21, 21-25, 26-24,
21-25, 15-13.
Lucas Chavez and Eric Vance with 27 and 23
points respectively were the main offensive
weapons of the winners. Alexis Matias added
eight and Thomas Hoff contributed 6, including
three blocks.
Casey Patterson led four players of Corozal with
double figures in scoring by charting 19 points.
David Menendez and Robert Nilson added 17 and 16
respectively and Matthew McKinney had 13.
Enrique Escalante compiled nine points.
Sunday is a rest day and the series resumes on
Monday in Corozal.
