Volleyball and Beach Volleyball
clinics for school teachers
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 5, 2007.- Twelve renowned
volleyball and beach volleyball coaches shared their knowledge and
experiences during the Third International Clinic for Physical
Education Teachers of Scholar level held last Saturday.
The beneficiaries of the event were more than 160 teachers in the
one-day long clinic organized by the FIVB Regional Development
Center in the Dominican Republic with the support of the NORCECA
Confederation.
“We won’t have great Olympic teams unless we have a solid
formation of the professors in the foundation,” said Cuban Eugenio
George Laffita, one of the participating instructors.
“I want to fully remind all of you that even for the Olympic
champions, the sport is education, sport is recreation, sport is
health,” he said. “Sport is also the use of time in an adequate
way, watching or taking part of the events.”
Besides Mr. Laffita, the other instructors were Lorne Sawula, Mark
Tennant, John Kessell, Israel Garcia, Rene Quintana, Justo
Morales, Francisco Cruz, Carl McGowan, Allison Wood, Christopher
Smith and Ed Drakich, with the general coordination of Miguel
Beato Cruz.
All the instructors gathered here on Friday during the annual
meeting of the NORCECA Technical and Coaches Commission.
