Poland to host the Final Round of the 2007 World
League
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, March 21, 2007- The FIVB is pleased to
announce that the venue for the 2007
World League Finals has been confirmed to Katowice, Poland and at
the request of Italy, Rome will host the 2008 World League
Finals.
Welcoming the news, FIVB President Dr. Rubén Acosta said that
“Poland has long pursued the right to host the World League Final
and show the world the energetic spectators who religiously follow
their team all over the globe. We look forward to the full house
anticipated by the organizers for the five days of the event.”
There will be some tough competition in the Final Round, when the
winners of the four pools, Poland as the host country and a wild
card team (one of the second place teams to be decided) will
converge on
Katowice
from 11-15 July to battle it out for a share of the US$ 20 million
prize money.
Polish Volleyball Federation President Miroslav Przedpelski said:
“It is an honour and big pleasure for the Polish Volleyball
Federation to entertain the Final Round of the 2007 World League.
We will do our best to make our guests comfortable. We have the
best audience all over the world and I am convinced that these
Finals will be unforgettable.”
This is the second time that the World League Finals will be held
in Poland. It is certain that Poland will pull out all the stops
in order to stage the best event ever. Italy on its side is always
preparing the 2008 World League Finals as part of its preparation
for the 2010 Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
