More than twenty thousand watched the action in Boca Chica 

 

BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, March 25, 2008.- More than twenty thousand enthusiastic fans watched the weekend action of the Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament, the first leg of the 2008 NORCECA Circuit.

 

The gold medal’s and several selected matches of the event won by USA and Cuba in men and women respectively, were on national television and telecasted to the Tri-State area of USA (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut).

 

Around fifty journalists covered the competition for printed media and radio and TV stations in the well organized event hosted by the Dominican Republic Volleyball Federation and the supervision of the NORCECA Confederation.

 

The weekend celebrations in the crowded beach of Boca Chica, 20 miles east of Santo Domingo, were capped by a music festival featuring Toño Rosario and Orchestra, one of the leading groups of the country.

 

“This event is certainly the best ever we have had in Boca Chica,” said Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA. “The reports we have received from the audience from the northeast of USA and from all over the country are very satisfactory and it means the tournament is growing up and drawing the attention of the people and the media.”
