BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, March 25, 2008.- More than twenty
thousand enthusiastic fans watched the weekend action of the Boca
Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament, the first leg of the 2008
NORCECA Circuit.
The gold medal’s and several selected matches of the event won by
USA and Cuba in men and women respectively, were on national
television and telecasted to the Tri-State area of USA (New York,
New Jersey and Connecticut).
Around fifty journalists covered the competition for printed media
and radio and TV stations in the well organized event hosted by
the Dominican Republic Volleyball Federation and the supervision
of the NORCECA Confederation.
The weekend celebrations in the crowded beach of Boca Chica, 20
miles east of Santo Domingo, were capped by a music festival
featuring Toño Rosario and Orchestra, one of the leading groups of
the country.
“This event is certainly the best ever we have had in Boca Chica,”
said Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA. “The reports we
have received from the audience from the northeast of USA and from
all over the country are very satisfactory and it means the
tournament is growing up and drawing the attention of the people
and the media.”
