GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, March 26,
2009.- The pairs participating in the
first stop of the Third Norceca
Continental Beach Volleyball Circuit
arrived in this warm caribbean island with
plenty enthusiasm for the event that kicks
off next Friday.
During the afternoon and evening hours the
representatives of United States, Canada,
Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago,
Guatemala, Mexico, Dominican Republic and
Cuba were arriving.
The teams were welcomed in the hotel by
Noel Williams, President of the Cayman
Islands Volleyball Federation.
During the afternoon, Arnaldo Sanchez, the
Norceca Technical Delegate, once again
double checked the competition areas and
discussed the procedure of the preliminary
enquiry and the technical meeting that
will take place on Thursday.
“All the personnel of the Federation have
followed our recommendations,” said
Sanchez. “We are convinced that this will
be a great event. The athletes, which are
the important part of the Circuit are here
and very enthusiastic.”
Prior to the start of the Circuit the
continental ranking show Puerto Rico
(1080), United States (770), Cuba (690),
Costa Rica (520) and Guatemala (495) in
the men’s division. In the women’s branch,
Puerto Rico is also tops with 830 points,
followed by Mexico (760), Cuba (740),
United States (650) and Costa Rica (520).
The Third Norceca Continental Beach
Volleyball Circuit awards points for the
XXI Central American and Caribbean Games
2010 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
This year’s events include Guatemala
(April 1-6), Dominican Republic (8-13),
Manzanillo, Mexico (May 13-18), Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico (May 20-25), Pachuca,
Mexico (May 27-June 1), Jamaica (June
24-29), Trinidad & Tobago (July 18-20),
Nicaragua (August 26-31) and Barbados
(November 6-8). |
