Americans had perfect day at the beach

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, March 27, 2009.- The American women’s team of Kristen Batt and Megan Wallin was perfect in three outings during their participation of the Cayman Islands Beach Volleyball Tournament.

 

Batt-Wallin won Pool C of the competition first defeating the Cayman Islands’ pair of Wanda Brenton-Jennifer Bily 21-15, 21-11, then rolling over Jamaicans Cherine Richards-Cheryl Daley 21-4, 21-6, and capping their performance with a 21-11, 21-14 victory over Costa Ricans Betsy Cruz-Marcela Mora.

 

In Pool A, Mexicans Vanessa Virgen and Polet Cruz defeated the Dominican Republic’s pair of Ginette del Rosario-Gina del Rosario 21-14, 21-9 and then crushed Nancy Joseph-Elki Phillip of Trinidad & Tobago by score of 21-10, 21-12. Cubans Nirian Sirial-Kirenia Ballar won Pool B with two victories over USA-2 of Jennifer Sharp-Jennifer Lombardi 21-12, 21-15 and Maria Jose Orellana-Anna Ramirez of Guatemala by score of 21-10, 21-9.

 

These three teams, winners of the pools, moved to the second round along with those of Trinidad & Tobago, Guatemala, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica and USA-2.

 

Women’s results on Friday: Pool A: MEX d. DOM (21-14, 21-9), TTO d. DOM (21-13, 21-18), MEX d. TTO (21-10, 21-12). Pool B: CUB d. USA-2 (21-12, 21-15), GUA d. USA-2 (21-14, 21-18), CUB d. GUA (21-10, 21-9). Pool C: USA-1 d. CAY (21-15, 21-11), JAM d. CRC (10-21, 21-16, 19-17), USA-1 d. JAM (21-4, 21-6), CAY d. CRC (18-21. 21-17, 15-5), USA-1 d. CRC (21-11, 21-14), CAY d. JAM (21-10, 21-19).
