Bahamas defeat Martinique in straight sets

 

Bahamas' women defeated Martinique 25-23, 25-19, 25-20 during the third day of the Seventh Caribbean Junior Volleyball Championship at Baie-Mahault in Guadeloupe.
 

Coraline Joseph-Rose from Martnique got 9 points including 3 aces, but it was not sufficient to take her team to victory against Bahamas. Avoni Seymour made the difference with 12 points including 4 aces and led her team to victory.  More


Cuba nearing the semi final round in Men’s Juniors

 

PUNE, India, August 5, 2009 - Cuba defeated United States 25-23, 25-23, 25-23 with the slimmest of margins on Wednesday during the second day of Pool F competition of the 2009 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship being played at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune, India.
 

Cuba improves to 2-0 and is in a good position to advance to the semifinal match on Aug. 8. USA falls to 0-2 in the four-team round-robin second-round pool and is in danger of not advancing to the semifinal round. More Spanish


Martinique and French Guyana go to semi finals

 

Martinique defeated Trinidad and Tobago 3 sets to 1 (21-25, 25-14, 25-23-25-18) for its second victory in the Caribbean Juniors Championship. Jordan Marie Antoinette led the winning side with 18 points and Simon Blake was the best Trinidadian with a match-high 22 points.

 

Martinique now with 2 wins tops the group and goes directly into the semifinals.  They now joined there other French territory team French Guyana who also has 2 wins to top their group and will also go into the semi finals. French Guyana male team didn’t waste their  time. More


Cuba starts Top Eight round on the right foot

 

PUNE, India, August 4, 2009 The FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship second round started Tuesday with classification rounds for the Top Eight and 9-16 at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune, India.

 

Cuba, Belgium, Brazil and India all earned victories to start the second round top eight classification pools on the right foot. The top eight teams consists of countries which placed first or second in its first-round pool that took place July 31-Aug. 2. Guadeloupe’s women beat Martinique in straight sets

 

It was the clash of the two French teams at the opening ceremony game. 

 

Guadeloupe with a new but tall female team was hoping to capture the media attention with an opening game win and this they did.  This was the first time that people of Guadeloupe were able to see their team perform and they crushed their opponent in a three-set victory to start the tournament in a positive note. Cuba and USA advance to second round in Men’s Junior 

 

PUNE, India, August 2, 2009  - Cuba edged France 23-25, 25-22, 25-16, 22-25, 15-13 on the third and final day of FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship first-round Pool C at Pune, India. Cuba and France and Argentina all finished both 2-1 but France was left out of the second round in terms of the point ratio.

Cazova's Juniors Technical Meeting in Guadeloupe

 

The technical meeting of the 7 Caribbean junior volley ball championship took place on the morning of 1 August 2009 before the start of the tournament.

Dominican Republic Closes with Hard-Fought Victory Over Korea and claims third place in China

 

NINGBO, China, August 2, 2009 - Dominican Repubic secured its first victory at the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix after overcoming Korea in five sets on Sunday.

 

After losing to host China and Russia earlier this week, Dominican Republic won its last match in Pool C, 25-22, 25-12, 18-25, 24-26, 15-10 in 112 minutes.

USA still unbeaten in Men’s Junior

 

PUNE, India, August 1, 2009 - The United States remained undefeated in the FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship (U-21) Pool A by handling Tunisia 21-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-21 on Saturday afternoon in Pune, India. While USA improves to 2-0, Tunisia falls to 0-2 in the pool.

NINGBO, China, July 31, 2009 - China held off an under-form Dominican Republic to begin its World Grand Prix campaign with a 3-0 victory in Pool C on Friday evening.

Three teams of Norceca competing in FIVB WGP

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 31, 2009 –Teams from USA, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico will represent NORCECA Confederation in the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix that kicks off in Brazil on Friday morning.

 

The first match of the tournament in Rio de Janeiro features hosts Brazil taking on Puerto Rico at 10:00 in the morning followed by the USA-Germany contest. USA and Canada have good start in Men’s Junior Worlds

MEXICALI, Mexico, July 19, 2008.- Brazil held off a resilient Dominican Republic to finish atop Pool C of FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship with a five-set victory on Saturday.

In a battle of 2 hours and four minutes between unbeaten teams in Mexicali, the six-time World Champions prevailed over the Dominicans by score of 25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 18-25, 15-11.

Puerto Rico unbeaten in two outings in Norceca-I

MIAMI, Florida, June 27, 2009.- Peru improved its win-loss record to 2-0 in Pool A of the Eighth Women’s Pan American Cup by defeating Costa Rica in a lopsided match by score of 25-14, 25-10, 25-11 at the BankUnited Center Arena in the University of Miami.

 

Veteran Leyla Chihuan led the victors with 15 points, including 10 kills, three service aces and two blocks, and Yulissa Zamudio, Carla Ortiz and Patricia Soto each contributed 12 tallies with Zamudio recording four blocks. Day One in Jamaica without surprises

United States Tops Costa Rica

 

MIAMI, Fla. (June 26, 2009) – The United States began the Eighth Women’s Pan American Cup with a convincing 25-7, 25-6, 25-16 victory over Costa Rica on Friday evening at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center.

 

Jordan Larson led all scorers with 14 points for the United States, while Nancy Metcalf added 11 points. Kristin Richards contributed nine points for Team USA. Middle blockers Heather Bown and Danielle Scott-Arruda chalked up seven and six points, respectively.

MIAMI, Florida, June 26, 2009.- Peru opened the Eighth Women’s Pan American Cup with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-10 victory over Mexico on Friday evening at University of Miami’s BankUnited Center.

USA sweeps Italy in World League

 

CATANIA, Italy, June 21, 2009.- USA completed the sweep of its two matches against Italy in the FIVB World League by defeating the home team 3-1 on Sunday. The score was 25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20 and the match lasted 2:04 hours.

USA successfully defends the crown at Pan Am Cup

Caceres leads Dominican Republic over Puerto Rico

 

CHIAPAS, México, June 20, 2009.- Jose Miguel Caceres enjoyed a wonderful night with 37 points leading Dominican Republic to a 3-2 victory over Puerto Rico in the match for the bronze medal of the IV Men’s Pan American Cup.

Guatemala finished in the sixth position

CHIAPAS, México, June 19, 2009.- Canada defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 in the second semi final match of the IV Pan American Cup and advanced to the final contest against United States. Both national teams booked tickets to the 2010 America’s Cup. These teams repeat the final of 2008 Cup won by the Americans.

USA defeat Dominicans and reach finals

 

CHIAPAS, Mexico, June 19, 2009.- Defending champions United States maintained their rhythm and reached the final of the Pan American Cup after defeating Dominican Republic in straight sets by score of 25-21, 25-23, 25-14.
