GUATEMALA, May 11,2005.- The coaches
of the five participating teams in
the Norceca C First Round 2006 FIVB
Women’s World Championship talked
about their goals before the start
of the event during a press
conference right alter the technical
meeting at the Grand Tikal Futura
Hotel here.
Marcos Heredia, Mexico: “I think it
must be a very tough competition.
Every team has possibilities. This
is my first event coaching women and
I came to battle for the first place
and after that to face what ever
comes.”
Walter Montes, Honduras: “We are
very motivated because Honduras
never had attended a preliminary to
the world championship. Even the
fact we have a very young team, this
is what we need, to work with the
new talents and some day aspire to
make the podium and prepare us for
the Central American Games also here
in Guatemala.”
Jose Remon, Panama: “This is a
re-encounter after almost four years
out of this level. In addition to
that absence, we have seven players
who study in USA and could not make
the trip, but we tried to coordinate
the most experienced with the
rookies. Due to the fact of our long
absence I can’t make a prediction
here.”
Rene Quintana, Nicaragua: “Our main
rival is the host team. Mexico is
the favourite. Several of our
players starred in the Central
American Tournament in 2004 and
Heidy Trana, best blocker, and
Mireya Tellez, best setter, made the
All-Star Team.”
David Aldana, Guatemala: “The team
is better prepared now compared with
the one who attended to the Central
American last November. We expect to
take the second place because Mexico
must win due their height and
tradition of that country in Olympic
Games and World competitions. The
home court won’t be and advantage
because we never have played before
in the Dome, but we will benefit
from the local crowd.” |
