Course for Coaches Level I in Santo Domingo
SANTO
DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.- The FIVB Regional Development Center
in the Dominican Republic lectured an International Course for
Coaches Level I with the participation of more than 20 technicians
from different countries of the Norceca Confederation. The director
of the course was Argentinean Carlos Maria Diaz Bancalari with the
assistance of Cuban Nelson Poyato Narvaez. Professor Nelson Ramirez,
director of the center, spoke about the importance of the event as a
tool to impulse the development of volleyball in the world. “We once
again are honoured and satisfied that this center hosted another
course of in the benefit of our discipline in the Norceca’s region,”
said Ramirez. He recalled that more than 200 coaches have
participated in courses lectured in the center and 33 of them have
reached the position of National Coaches of their countries in
different categories.

Meier praised the conditions of Regional Development Center

Swiss
Max Meier, director of the Level III Coaches Course held in Santo
Domingo on October 24-November 6, praised the conditions under which
professors and students worked at the FIVB Regional Development
Center located here. “We met the perfect conditions to work for a
level III course,” said Meier before departing. “The conditions at
this center, with teams always available for the different type of
instructions, made things easier for everybody.” “The most important
thing was the high level of competence of the people working here,”
he added. Meier also had encouraging words for the students during
his speech at the closing ceremony. “The results of the exams were
very good and the participants worked really hard,” said Meier.
“This also speaks loudly about the level reached by the coaches of
the region.” The course was lectured also by Carlos Diaz Bancalari
of Argentina and Gilberto Herrera of Cuba. Coaches from 19 countries
took part.

Course

DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, November 6, 2005.-
Cuban
Jorge Garbey achieved the highest grades during the International
Course for Coaches Level III dictated at the FIVB Regional
Development Center in the Dominican Republic located in Centro
Olímpico Juan Pablo Duarte of Santo Domingo. Puerto Ricans David
Quinones and Juan Cartagena were tied as the second most outstanding
participants in the course directed by Swiss professor Max Meier
with the assistance of professors Carlos Diaz Bancalari of Argentina
and Gilberto Herrera of Cuba. A total of 35 coaches of 45
participants, from 19 countries approved the final exams of the
course that covered 112 hours. Among the coaches that approved were
Mohammed Shaafee of Maldivia, Michio Fujiwara of Japan, Sarath Da
Dilva of Sri Lanka, Luger Niles of Barbados, Samuel Cibrian of
Mexico, Harold Canaval of Colombia and Jorge Nicolas of Bonaire.
Also Dominicans Julio Frias, Juan Alberto Capellan, Altagracia
Jimenez, Manuel de Regla Lara, Eduardo Jonas Tayson, Jose Manuel
Paniagua, Ramon De Leon, Vicente Paniagua, Victor Sepulveda, Wilson

International Referee Candidate Course Concluded in Santo Domingo
SANTO
DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 17, 2005.- The FIVB Development
Regional Center at Dominican Republic concluded this Saturday a
Course for International Referee Candidate. The closing ceremony was
presided over by Mr. Cristobal Marte, President of the Norceca
Confederation and Mr. Nelson Ramirez, Director of the Development
Center. Mr. Alexander Muhle of Germany was the director of the
course with Russian Sergey Titov as instructor and Dominican Denny
Cespedes as coordinator. The participants received more than 40
hours of theoretical and practical classes and at the end they
officiated out matches of the Development Center First Men & Women
Junior Cup. Mr. Muhle pointed out that the evaluations were very
satisfactory and also remarked the quality level of the
participants. During his closing speech he gave the students some
valuable advices about the role of the referee in modern volleyball
as part of the spectacle.

Medicine Seminar is a complete success
SANTO
DOMINGO, May 20,
2005.- The II Seminar of Sport Medicine Applied to Volleyball and
other Sports has been a complete success, said Dr. Andres Pina del
Rosario, member of the FIVB Medical Commission. More than 200
physicians, therapists and medical students are attending the
scientific meeting organized by the FIVB Regional Development Center
in the Dominican Republic. During the opening ceremony of the event,
five doctors from the Dominican Republic received plaques of
recognition for their dedication toward the athletes in the country.
They were Jose Joaquin Puello, member of the IOC Medical Commission,
Juan Abreu, former captain of the Men’s National Team, Eduardo
Yermenos, Bolivar Vargas and Pedro Fernandez Zucco. Dr. Anne
Peytavin, president of the FIVB Medical Commission, presented the
plaque to Puello, who is also a former president of the Dominican
Olympic Committee.

Medicine Sports Seminar about to begin

DOMINGO, May 19, 2005.- The Second Seminar of Sports Medicine
applied to Volleyball and Other Sports begins here tonight with the
presence of Dr. Annie Peytavin, President of the FIVB Medical
Commission. Mr. Cristobal Marte, President of the Norceca
Confederation will lecture on the issue of Policy of Norceca about
Participation of Team Doctors with National Teams. Then, Dr. Jose
Joaquin Puello, member of IOC Medical Commission will lecture on The
Importance of Sport Medicine for the Development of the Athlete. The
Seminar runs until May 22, with participation of medical doctors
like Fernando Avila de Espana, Bernard Nau, Andres Pina, Pedro
Fernandez and Victor Figueroa, all with FIVB license. The event is
endorsed by the Pan American Confederation of Sport Medicine, the
Dominican Republic Sports Ministry, The Science Institute of
Gatorade, the Dominican Medical Collegiate, the Dominican

DOMINGO, April 22, 2005.- The II World Seminar of Sport Medicine
Applied to Volleyball and Other Sports will be celebrated in the
Dominican Republic on May 19-22 with the participation of well known
specialists on that matter.
This
activity is organized by the FIVB Regional Development Centre in the
Dominican Republic directed by Mr. Nelson Ramirez, who informed the
local media during a press conference at the headquarters of the
training and instructional facility.
The
site of the Seminar will be the Convention Centre of the Public
Works Ministry in Santo Domingo and it is already confirmed the
participation of Dr. Annie Peytavin, President of the FIVB Medical
Commission, whose lecture will be based on the subject of
“Importance of the Sports Medicine for the Development of the
Athlete.” Ramirez also informed the event will be dedicated to
doctors Jose Joaquin Puello, Eduardo Yermenos, Bolivar Vargas, Pedro
Fernandez Zucco and Juan Abreu due their contributions to the local
sports both as athletes and also medical doctors.Mr. Cristobal
Marte, President of Norceca Confederation, remarked the celebration

Thirty seven from 10 Countries Receive VIS Certificates
SANTO
DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 23, 2005.-
Thirty seven participants from 10 countries received on Tuesday
their certificates after taking part in a one-week VIS Course
lectured by Mr. Tomas Kuropka of Poland.
The course was held under the auspices of the FIVB Regional
Development Center in the Dominican Republic and the North Central
America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (Norceca).
Mr. Nelson Ramirez, Director of the Center and Mr.
Cristobal Marte,
President of the Norceca, both attended
the ceremony. The participants in the VIS Course came from Antigua &
Barbuda, Trinidad & Tobago, Dominica, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Panama,
Costa Rica, Netherlands Antilles, Venezuela and Dominican Republic.
Mr. Kuropka is a well accredited
professional with vast experience obtained as VIS supervisor in
World League, World Cups, World Grand Prix and Olympic Games.

Instructors Conduct a Clinic

February 13 2005.-NORCECA’s Volleyball Instructors conducted a
Clinic with the participation of 145 Volleyball School Teachers and
Physical Education Students. Prof.
Eugenio George Lafita from Cuba and Prof. John Kessel from United
States of America, where satisfied with the interest and level shown
by the participants in this important clinic that was sponsored by
the Federation Internationale de Volleyball, FIVB, NORCECA,
throughout the FIVB Regional Volleyball Development Centre and the
National Institute of Physical Education of the Dominican Republic.
The Clinic was developed in the Dominican
Republic National Volleyball Federation Training Centre with the
participation of Prof. Eugenio George Lafita, (CUB), Prof. John

Clinics for Physical Education Teachers in DR
Dominican

February 02,2005,-With the support of the NORCECA
Confederation, the Development Centre in the Dominican Republic will
carry out a volleyball clinic for Physical Education Teachers who
are currently working in local private and public schools. This
clinic is organized by the Development Centre capitalizing the
meeting of the NORCECA’s Coaches Commission to be held in Santo
Domingo next February 11. It will be directed by Eugenio George of
Cuba, John Kessel of United States, Israel Garcia of Puerto Rico,
Jorge Perez Vento of Cuba, Lorne Sawula and Mark Tennant of Canada.
The Physical Education Teachers scheduled to participate in the
clinic are members of the Physical Education Institute and the
Intercollegiate League who will benefit of the advice and guidance
from a group on volleyball instructors with enormous experience
coaching high level national teams and the teaching of volleyball to
school students. Mr. Cristobal Marte, President of NORCECA was very
satisfied with the clinic to be held on February 12, starting out a
new program he hopes to carry over to the countries with lesser
development within the Confederation.

Haitians are training in Santo Domingo
SANTO
DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.December
16,2004,- A Boys U-19 Team from Haiti is currently receiving
instructions at the FIVB Regional Development Center in the
Dominican Republic. Under the guidance of Dr. Ruben Acosta
Hernandez, President of the FIVB, the Center and the Dominican
Federation have been requested to help the all-around improvement of
Volleyball in Haiti. Nelson Ramirez, director of the Center, said
the training has the purpose of raising the quality level of the
Haitian teams in different categories. “This is part of a
cooperation agreement between the Regional Center and the Volleyball
Federations of Haiti and Dominican Republic,” said Ramirez. Under
the agreement these organizations hope to give properly training to
coaches, referees and statisticians and to elevate the playing
quality of Haitian players.

Seminar of Middle Player in Dominican Republic
November
18,2004,-Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic,-A seminar on the subject
of the Middle Player (Block and Attack) started this Tuesday in the
FIVB Development Regional Center in the Dominican Republic.
A
total of forty-two instructors from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican
Republic and several Caribbean islands are attending the course
being lectured by Mr. Arjen Boonstoppel from Netherlands with his
countryman Martin van der Horst as the player for practical
demostrations.
During
the opening session, Mr. Cristobal Marte, vicepresident of FIVB,
addressed the welcome to all participants and encouraged them to
take the most of the opportunity of having an instructor of Mr.
Boonstoppel’s caliber.

St. Kitts will host a Level II Coaches Course
June
15,2004,The
St. Kitts Volleyball Association will be hosting a Level II
Coaches Course from November 25 to December 7 of 2004.
The
instructors of the course will be Mr. Max Meier, a Level III
Instructor and Coach, and Dr. Christian Kroger, a Level II
Instructor and coach.
This
is one of two Level II Coaches Courses scheduled for the
NORCECA region in 2004 with the other in El Salvador on
September 5-12.
Three
courses of Level I will be hosted in Belize July 3-12,
Nicaragua July 13-24 and Mexico July 19-30.The St. Kitts’
course will be lectured in English with the other four in
Spanish.
The
objectives of these courses are:
A) To
improve the knowledge and competence of coaches and
teachers. B) To present the most recent trends of the modern
game of Volleyball. C) To establish a unified system for
training coaches in all zones. D) To enable each National
Federation to develop national courses and E) To exchange
ideas and experiences.
